Ascoli Piceno is a town in Le Marche, which is one of the regions of Italy. The city has about fifty thousand inhabitants but it receives a large amount of tourists every year because of the incredible food you can taste there and, of course, because there are plenty of sights to enjoy.

One of the best places to visit in Ascoli Piceno is the Piazza del Popolo which is filled with lots of people which make it extremely alive and where you will find the Palazzo dei Capitani del Popolo which was built in the 13th Century. At the entrance of the palace you will see a statue of Pope Paul III which was created in recognition for his efforts to bring peace to Ascoli Piceno.

Those who like great views of a city will enjoy visiting the Torre degli Ercolani which is a forty meter tower from the 12th Century which belongs to the Palazzetto Longobardo and that overlooks the whole city.

And if you want to find more history in Ascoli Piceno you could visit the Archaeological Museum where there is a small collection of tribal items from the area as well as from other European countries which date back to the first centuries AD.
